HCT Group launches 2016 Social Impact Report

HCT Group is a social enterprise, reinvesting the profits it makes from transport contracts back into high social impact transport services or projects in the communities we serve. We aim to make a real difference to people’s lives and what we’ve achieved each year is set out in our annual Social Impact Report.
The report was launched on 21 July at an event at the Coin Street Conference Centre (a social enterprise) catered for by Café Sunlight (a social enterprise) including beer from Toast (a social enterprise.). The event was attended by staff, our new Chair Sir Vince Cable, social investors, commissioners and other stakeholders.
The report sets outs our achievements for the year. Not only has our commercial side performed very strongly, we’ve had a great year for social impact
- Over 400,000 passenger trips for disadvantaged individuals or community group members
- Our Learning Centre on track for another record year – with 203 people who were long-term unemployed gaining jobs as a result of qualifications earned at the Learning Centre
- 126 Young people with SEN now travelling independently through our travel training programme – and the increase in life chances that will bring
Behind each of these numbers is a story – of increased independence, of connections with the community, of new opportunities. As a consequence, the report explores the full impact of our services on people's lives with data gained from survey research and focus groups
