Minibus Safety Check Service for Schools

Why Safety Check?
Minibuses operated under “Section 19” permits are required to undergo weekly vehicle safety check, and a safety check by an appropriately qualified mechanic every 7 to 10 weeks.

How does it work?
A member of our Fleet Team will visit your school every week to check both the safety and condition of your minibus(es).
The safety element of the check covers a wealth of safety issues, and all of this is recorded on our written report.
The vehicle condition report will record dents, scratches, rust and similar damage to the vehicle.
The two written reports will be posted to the school within a few days of the visit.
Our written reports can be used as part of your safety management programme. The report on the condition of the vehicle can also be used to help identify when any damage was caused to the vehicle.

Record Keeping
We retain a file on each vehicle that will include copies of all of our inspection reports. With a subscription to our “Minibus Safety and Vehicle Condition Checks” service, we will contact you to arrange dates for our visits, and will also remind you when the “MOT” test is due (we can even negotiate a discount for the “MOT” test). We’ll remind you when the vehicle insurance is due for renewal as well as when the “tax disc” is due for renewal. In effect we will aid the management of your vehicle.

Discounts
We have negotiated discounts with a range of garages and other suppliers, and so may be able to provide you with vehicle maintenance and items for your vehicle at a discount.

Vehicle Stop Notices
If on inspecting your vehicle(s) we consider that there is a significant problem that could affect the safe operation of the vehicle, then we may make an immediate recommendation that the vehicle stop being used. If this is the case, we will issue a brief written advice note at the time, and follow this up by post with a detailed explanation of the problem, and what should be done to rectify it.

Vehicle Cleaning
We can conduct the vehicle check at your premises or at our own. If the vehicle is brought to our premises, we will also clean the outside of the vehicle free of charge.

Subscription to our annual service includes:
     • Weekly vehicle safety / vehicle condition check
     • Written documentation following each vehicle check
     • Reminders for payment of insurance and vehicle MOT
     • Access to negotiated discounts (including annual MOT)

For schools in Bristol the charge is just £850.00 per vehicle per annum, reduced to £750.00 for second and subsequent vehicles (that can be checked during the same visits). If you prefer, we can provide this service on an as-required basis; costs available on request. Please contact to discuss charges for schools outside Bristol.
